Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 12.02.41 PMColin Kaepernick decided to remain seated during the playing of The Star-Spangled Banner before San Francisco 49ers games, to protest all forms of oppression and particularly police brutality.

Of course, White America is not particularly happy about it. Among these unhappy White folk? Kaepernick’s own mother, who gave him up for adoption at birth. She took to Twitter to voice her opinion on her son’s protest (as if anyone asked her in the first place).

The 49ers star evidently does not need his mother’s approval. When asked if he would continue to sit during the playing of the national anthem, Kaepernick told the San Francisco Chronicle:

“Yes. I’ll continue to sit. I’m going to continue to stand with the people that are being oppressed. To me this is something that has to change. When there’s significant change and I feel like that flag represents what it’s supposed to represent, this country is representing people the way that it’s supposed to, I’ll stand.

There’s a lot of things that need to change. One specifically? Police brutality. There’s people being murdered unjustly and not being held accountable. People are being given paid leave for killing people. That’s not right. That’s not right by anyone’s standards.”

Totally agree with Kaepernick. We should only stand for what is right and what we believe in. Do you support Colin Kaepernick’s protest?
