A freelance writer for the past five years, Lakeia Brown has penned lifestyle and relationship pieces, entertainment reviews, and celebrity profiles for magazine, newspaper and online publications. Her work has appeared in ESSENCE, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, NY Newsday, Nick Jr. Family Magazine, Creative Loafing, Hiphopdx.com, Clutchmagonline.com and The Washington Post’s TheRoot.com. She is also a regular entertainment contributor for ESSENCE.com. By day, Lakeia uses the other side of her brain, examining Nielsen ratings and consumer trends for a cable network in Midtown Manhattan. An alumna of Morgan State University, she holds a B.S. in Telecommunications. She has also taken several advanced courses at Emory University, The New School and Mediabistro in creative writing and fact checking.
