The Couple, a new web show about to the intricacies of a couple living together, is gearing up for its Valentine’s Day release.

As they prepare for the premiere, the show’s creators have released several minisode teasers. We’ve featured the previous mini-episodes in the past (here), and we eagerly await yet another smart, well-made web show.

Just like the Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl and 12 Steps to Recovery, The Couple is yet another example of black writers and directors taking to the web to get their art heard.

Maaaaan, if the videos of D’Angelo’s European tour didn’t have me hype before, this latest video of his show at the Zénith in Paris has me jonesing for an American performance.

After D played the opening bars of his 2000 hit, “How Does It Feel,” the Parisian crowd went wild. D’Angelo seemed overwhelmed by their love and support and had to take a break from the song to absorb it all. Luckily he managed to pull himself together and sing a soulful, acoustic rendition of the classic.

The web has become to go-to destination for hilarious comedies and interesting dramas. This time, comedian Billy Sorrells is back wit the second installment of “Shit Black Girls Say.”

When we posted the first installment, many of you laughed and said you can relate, but felt Billy left a few things out (girl, boo!).

Watch episode 2 to see if he got it right.

You know how we love web shows, right? Because entertainment geared toward African-Americans and people of color are sorely lacking, the web has become not only a resource for independent filmmakers to share their work, but often times a place where audiences of color can find interesting things that appeal to them. Web series like The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, 12 Steps to Recovery and Diary of a Single Black Mom all show that talent abounds and the audience is hungry for high-quality shows.

Recently, I came across another web series while I was getting my daily Shadow & Act fix. Although it was short, the show, “Eight-Six,” packed a punch. It served up everything I love about dramatic shows–questionable characters, ruthless businessmen, divas, a little bit of comedy, and a cliff hanger.
