An Indiana man has been locked up by New York authorities for allegedly stalking and harassing R & B superstar Ashanti and her family. Cops say Devar Hurd sent more than 30 disgusting text messages in which he describes pleasuring himself while thinking of the sexy singer and her mom and sisters. The barrage of filth allegedly began in May, when Hurd is charged with first “sexting” Ashanti’s mother, Tina Douglas, of Glen Cove LI. “Hey Tina baby, how u doing sexy,” Hurd, 31, text messaged Tina Douglas’ cell phone. “Tell Shani I’m coming straight home from work to put in sum overtime. Michael Steele gets heated over ‘you people’
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele got into a heated exchange Wednesday morning with the cast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” It started with CNBC commentator Donny Deutsch, who pointedly asked Steele about the GOP’s criticism of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s comments comparing opponents of health care reform to those who tried to block the abolition of slavery. “Any great change throughout history, the naysayers say ‘it’s not time, it’s not time?’ So why is that not a relevant analogy?” Deutsch asked. “I won’t even dignify that with a response,” Steele said. “Next question.” Deutsch interjected to say that Reid was “comparing it to dramatic change,” and was not suggesting Republicans were equivalent to those who opposed emancipation. Race for Atlanta’s mayor settled
A recount in the Atlanta mayoral election reaffirmed that former state Sen. Kasim Reed defeated Councilwoman Mary Norwood, concluding one of the city’s tightest political contests in decades. The final margin separating the candidates was 714 votes out of more than 84,000 cast in the Dec. 1 balloting, according to election officials. The recount was performed Wednesday at Ms. Norwood’s request and added one vote to her total. “The recount results are final, and now it is time to accept it,” she told reporters at her campaign headquarters.
