Time to Shine

by

Nothing screams healthy hair as loud as a mane with luster. But it can be a challenge to find a sheen spray that combats dullness without weighing down strands. Don’t fret. We’ve rounded up our faves that are both lightweight and shine-boosting. Plus, they all smell great!

Luster Pink Oil Sheen Shine Spray
What it is: A light sheen spray that conditions your hair and acts as a sunscreen.
Why we love it: It’s great for all hair textures. The mink and wheat germ oil ingredients are a remedy for thirsty strands with their super moisturizing properties.
Where to buy it: Sally Beauty, $4.79

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Sheen Spray
What it is: A blend of Vitamin E, olive oil, and herbal extracts that restores hair’s natural moisture.
Why we love it: It’s free of drying alcohols, which can make hair brittle.
Where to buy it: Sally Beauty, $4.79

Carol’s Daughter Tui Jojoba and Shea Butter Hair Sheen
What it is: A moisturizing hair oil that’s infused with natural botanicals.
Why we love it: It’s a triple threat. The formula restores shine, reduces frizz, and nourishes hair. The bonus? It’s not made with synthetic dyes, parabens or sulfates.
Where to buy it: Sephora, $17

Mizani Shyne Bodifying Sheen Spray
What it is: A lightweight sheen spray that adds body while it enhances the shine factor.

Cantu Shea Butter Oil Sheen Spray

I bias but I must say the Cantu one is amazing. It does conditions well, gives shine and all without the harsh smell like some oil sheen sprays can get

  • Hmmmm

All of the Sheen Sprays contain mineral oil. Isn’t that drying for Black hair?

    • Coco and Creme

Not all sheen’s are drying – I use Mizani and I am natural and it works for me. @Binks – I love Cantu too!

FYI: This site is for all hair types and textures and different products work different on different textures. All these products may not be best for natural hair as they might not work well on relaxed or wigs/weaves. It’s about trying out products and knowing what ingredients work with your hair.

I rarely do oil sheen anymore cause it ends up on face etc.
Instead I moisterize my scalp before combing out my set and keep going.
