Apparently there’s more to R. Kelly than just hit songs. Soon, the Chicago-born artist will be releasing the story of his life.
Kells has been through his fair share of drama over the past few years. Not only did he split from his wife of many years, but he was also embroiled in a career-threatening scandal and charged with child molestation. Although he was acquitted of the charges, many (myself included) were unable to simply get over his transgressions and embrace him for the music’s sake. With his new book, Kelly—now 44—hopes his truth will finally come to light.
In a previous statement, the hit maker explained, “I’m writing this book as Robert, not R. Kelly. I will open my heart and reveal the good in my life as well as all the drama. I want to tell it like it is.”
Although many have mixed feelings about R. Kelly, Tavis Smiley—political commentator and journalist—will be publishing Kelly’s memoir under his literary imprint, SmileyBooks.
According to the buzz, R. Kelly’s memoir, Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me, will not only take a look at the singer’s life, but also be a keepsake for his fans. It is scheduled to be released in November.
Given all of his controversy, will you be picking up R. Kelly’s book?
