Do you remember where you where when you first heard this:
“I keep on falling…in and out of love with you.”
For me, it was standing outside a corner store with a bunch of my girls pooling together our money to get a snack after church. It’s crazy to think that the first time those notes came over the air was ten years ago.
To commemorate the release of her multi-platinum album, Songs In A Minor, Alicia Keys will be releasing a special 10th anniversary deluxe and collector’s editions of her critically acclaimed debut on June 28th. The new versions will also include a never before seen documentary about the making of the album, which went on to become a Grammy winning LP.
In a statement today, Alicia said:
“It’s incredibly surreal for me to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Songs in A Minor. Looking back on the journey, I’m truly moved by my fans and friends who’ve been with me and have supported me throughout my career. This album is possibly the most precious to me, as your first album only happens once, and so Songs in A Minor will always hold a special place in my life that’s filled with amazing memories.”
Songs In A Minor was not only the introduction of the vocal and songwriting talent that was Alicia Keys, it was the start of what has been a decade long career of hits. From her early days as the girl playing the piano with the cornrows in her hair to her newest title as a mother, we’ve all watched Alicia’s professional and personal journey and grown in ours as well.
