Naomi Campbell is the ultimate diva, but she is one who loves to use her power for good. She hosted her annual Fashion For Relief charity show along with Vogue Italia editor in chief Franca Sozzani at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. She has been doing so since 2005, bringing awareness to disasters all over the globe from Hurricane Katrina to the latest earthquakes in Japan.
Cannes is one of the hottest and most publicized events of the year, thus there was no better way to raise money to help the people of Japan as well as spreading the word across an international stage. Naomi and Franca also had the help of celebrities and models including Kinee Diouf, Grace Hightower, Georgie Badiel, Jane Fonda, Noemie Lenoir, Sessilee Lopez, Rosario Dawson, Karolina Kurkova, Marcus Schenkenberg, Yasmin Le Bon and many more.
“The destruction caused by the earthquake in Japan is completely heartbreaking, it’s so hard to even begin to comprehend the tragic loss people are coping with. I felt very passionate to try and help in whatever way possible, to do our part and to support Japan at this time. I hope that the money raised from Fashion For Relief in Cannes will support those who need it most.” – Naomi Campbell
The most elegant cocktail dresses and evening gowns were shown from designers including Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel, Valentino, Jean-Paul Gaultier and many more.
