Andre Leon Talley has become such an icon and a force in the fashion industry that he has been given his own acronym: A.L.T. He has been a champion of new talent, young fashion designers and models of color and has worked as an Editor at Vogue for twenty-eight years (with a three year stint at W).
Andre has been sitting front row at the highest-acclaimed runway shows for the past 25 years and his face is one of the most recognized in fashion.
To say that he is a fashion giant can be taken both figuratively and literally because he is hard to miss standing at a statuesque 6’6″ and frequently decked out in fur and designer labels. Style is not the only thing that Andre excels in as he has received his Master’s Degree from Brown University in French as well as an honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Savannah College of Art and Design, for which he also serves on the Board of Trustees.
His most recent venture has been as a judge on America’s Next Top Model and now it seems that he will be getting a reality show of his own. This weekend, he presented Manolo Blahnik with the Andre Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award at the Savannah College of Art and Design and wherever he went, his camera crew was not far behind. Though the show has not been confirmed, we are anxiously awaiting the news and a slew of networks will surely be vying for it.
In the meantime, Andre is curating his own ALT Gallery for the college which will house its costume collection, including pieces from Chanel, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Oscar de la Renta and so much more.
