The house of John Galliano continues on, though not under the direction of the designer whose name it bears. Bill Gaytten has now been appointed to the role once held by Galliano and his first womenswear effort was the Resort 2012 collection.

Gaytten tapped model Kelly Moreira and she perfectly channeled the feminine designs, inspired by the 1920’s and 1930’s. One cannot help but think of The Great Gatsby when viewing the pieces, whether it be the dainty raffia hats, sheer bobby socks or chic separates that are fit for the ladies who lunch or a garden party.

Gaytten worked alongside John Galliano for the past 23 years at the brand, thus the appointment came as no surprise. Last week, there was speculation that Galliano might be given his old position back, but LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault confirmed that he would be not be returning.

He will not be working for LVMH…[he] didn’t have the simple politeness to contact me.” – Bernard Arnault

John Galliano is now standing trial after having spent some time in a rehabilitation center for his alcohol and drug addictions. He is being charged for “public insults based on origin, religious affiliation, race or ethnicity”. (Daily Mail) His possible sentence? Six months in prison and 22,500 euros. The verdict is set to be announced on September 8th.

Prison time???? For what? Being a racist???? I hate when public outcries call for the resignation of those who dare to voice their opinions. I mean really? To think he is the only designer that is vocal about Jews,Pols, BLacks, women, gays, children, meat-eaters, Americans………. Time to be real and let people be people.
