In more “bad timing given the economy” news, NBA Superstar Dwyane Wade, the brand ambassador for luxury time pieces company Hublot Geneve, collaborated with the brand to design a timepiece which costs $27,500.
Debuting the watch in New York recently, Wade dubbed the newly designed watch, the “King Power D-Wade.” The face of the watch is a replica of the court’s hardwood floor, relating the timepiece to Dwyane’s first love, basketball.
As a connoisseur of fashion, Wade has picked the brains of some of the world’s most well known, highly sought after fashion designers including the likes of Giorgio Armani and Donatella Versace so it comes as no surprise that he’s decided to take up his hand at designing a watch. “I don’t know everything, but the thing I do know is to ask questions. That’s why I was up in Europe. I try to pick the brains of people who are great at fashion, who look good in clothes,” Dwyane has said.
More question-asking is in Dwyane’s future, as he has went on record saying he’d like to start a clothing line someday. Our advice? Skip the luxury limited-edition collections and be just a tad bit more price-conscious.
What do you think of Dwyane’s watch line? Should more athletes take up designing?
