Believe it or not, but M. Night Shyamalan is set to direct a new sci-fi action adventure set in a time in which our beloved planet becomes inhospitable to human life. 1000 A.E., as it’s currently titled, will reunite Will Smith and son Jaden as the leads. As Blackfilm reports, papa Smith will portray a hero, and Jaden, the disappointing son – a failed warrior who eventually redeems his honor upon coming to the rescue when they crash land on a lifeless Earth.

Allegedly, Zoe Kravitz and Sophie Okonedo are in talks to join the cast to play Smith’s daughter and wife, respectively. Neither a stranger to the genre, Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo played a significant role in Aeon Flux back in 2005, and Zoe’s performance in X-Men: First Class is still fresh in our minds.

Co-written by Shyamalan as well, production is set to begin in early 2012, with 2013 release date. The Sixth Sense director’s work has been met with increasing skepticism in recent years. With stars like these in the line up, would you be more likely to support it at the theater, or wait ’til it premieres on the small screen?

So there were no brown skin actresses available? The colorism in Hollywood is just rediculous.
