I always have a hard time understanding why disgraced people don’t just gather their things and start life anew in some remote location where no one knows all of the mess they’ve been in, so I can’t believe Eddie Long is still out and about doing creepy things.

Long can still be found at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta. Last weekend, the church invited Ralph Messer, a rabbi, to fellowship with the congregation. After delivering a sermon about “the government of God,” Messer produced a scroll that he said is “only given to cities that need to be released into a new anointing” — namely New Birth. Then Eddie Long appears on stage and Messer explains that “he’s a king. God’s blessed him. He’s a humble man. But in him is kingship. In him is royalty. In him was a land of Israel. In him was a k chromosome…he was brought through the slaves, raised up in a city and God now wants to release a new anointing.” I won’t say more, just watch.

Well, I’m not going to try to digest the religious aspects of this video because I am beyond confused about the ceremonial things that go on here and have never in life heard of a church hoisting a leader up in a chair…perhaps someone can enlighten us in the comments? I do know that Messer’s continued references to Long as the descendant of slaves who is now the first to touch a scroll rub me entirely the wrong way. What is this man talking about? And why is Long loving it so much? When it comes to the proclamation that Eddie Long is any sort of king in God’s kingdom, I’m gonna have to call foul on that one, and it’s sad for the folks who continue to give this man money and believe in him.

What do you think?

Jesus was not a king. He simply was spreading the word of God and got killed for it. He NEVER put himself on a pedestal. So why do we? This is why I keep God in my heart, let yall do religion. This is our language, our land, our history, nor our God. This was NOT intended on slaves to worship. Maasah Hung our people if he found out we could read. Stripped of out language, he taught us HIS way according to HIS. Interpretation of the bible. I digress. I keep God in my heart. Yall can have the rest.

@ Naim… Jesus was not a king? He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess these truths to the glory of God our Father! Yours, mine, that “rabbi”, Eddie Long, Obama, Romney…. Everyone!!!

Naim, I understand exactly what you mean. Xatira, this is not literal. Don’t go splitting hair over terminology. Understand the spirit of the message. Jesus did not exalt himself. He did not wear a crown and did not look for exaltation or justification from the religious leaders of that time. He was God and when anointed of God you don’t need anyone to tell the people so. The blind leading the blind… like sheep led to a slaughter. I think God weeps at the state of modern religion. It’s a good thing He already saw it coming…

They should have turned that chair upside down, dropped Eddie Long on his “wig covered head,” and maybe the lick to the head would bring him back to his SENSES!

Yes indeed, Jesus Christ is King, as recorded in the Word of God, Paul in his pastoral epistle to Timothy in the 1st book chapter 6 and verse 15, we read ” which he will display at the proper time He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords” then in His book penned by the apostle John, the book of Revelation 17:14, ” they will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with Him are called and chosen and faithful”…….and finally Revelation 19:16 ” and He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS”……
