BET has been trying to reform its image for the past few years, and tonight the network will be taking another step in the right direction.
This evening BET will broadcast a special titled, “I Am Trayvon Martin,” which will give the family of the slain teen an opportunity to speak out on his behalf.
According to BET, the half-hour broadcast will also take viewers “behind the scenes through their 6-week ordeal as they campaigned for personal justice and triggered a national movement.”
Since the Trayvon Martin’s case gained national attention, millions signed a petition to bring his killer, George Zimmerman, to justice, which culminated in Zimmerman’s arrest for Second Degree Murder.
BET’s special, “I Am Trayvon Martin,” airs tonight at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
