It all started in 2006 when Phyllis Taylor decided to create her own fashion line, Sika Designs. The UK based fashion label blends vibrant African prints into each garment with a modern touch.

Ms. Taylor is one of Africa’s rising fashion stars. All garments made for Sika Designs are from Ankara fabric sourced from Ghana. Phyllis makes sure that all pieces are hand-made by local seamstresses in Ghana and part of the income from sales goes back to the Ghana community.

For Sika Designs’ Autumn/Winter collection, “Blossom Collection”, Phyllis showcased a spring time theme with bright colors, full skirts and floral patterned pieces.

Sika Designs’ newest collection “Labyrinth Collection” is filled with bold, classic, flirty garments with a 1950s and 1960s vibe. Labyrinth features an array of dresses, skirts, blouses in light, airy colors and handpicked African prints. The pieces are perfect for work, play, or an evening out.

This UK based fashion brand has combined Ghanaian and Western styles to create sophisticated, feminine clothing. She often incorporates tie dye, batiks, and wax prints into her collections. Past collections include: 1706, Gemini, Coco, Fusion, Spellbound, Wonderland, Goldcoast, and Kalediscope.

Her designs are for a bold, sassy, confident woman. Sika Designs does more than womenswear. She has a children line called Little Miss Sika and a Sika signature home collection featuring silk accessories perfect for any stylish bedroom. The Sika Designs creator believes building awareness about the African print will bring a more positive outlook on Africa.
