wise words, say thank you

“If ‘thank you’ is the only prayer you say, that will be enough.” –Meister Eckhart

Yesterday was a doozy. After a very long week of emotional ups and downs, I found myself in the middle of the mother of all arguments, which triggered some negative feelings from the past. Instead of just being pissed off and hurt about what was going on, I was pissed off and hurt about all of the things that weren’t going right for me. And when things go bad, tears aren’t far behind.

After crying myself into a migraine, I decided another course of action was in order: a hot shower. In the shower I began to talk to God, and instead of asking him to fix everything, I said thank you. I thanked him for my life, my health, my family, my truck, and everything that has been great so far and everything that will be great in the future. Soon, my headache went away and I was able to see that while my day did suck, sometimes ish happens. You deal with it and you move on.

Clutchettes, I’ll tell you the same thing I told my crew, the #GOALdiggers: When life throws challenges and negative emotions our way, the only thing that matters is how we deal with them. Instead of allowing those things to throw you off your path, recognize them and use them to teach you how to get where you want to go.

And always, always remember to say thank you for those things that are going right and those things that will be going right soon.

Happy Monday!
