Screen Shot 2014-06-10 at 11.13.27 AMBobbi Kristina may think no one can play her late mom, Whitney Houston, except her. But the casting crew for the made-for-TV film I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story thinks differently. America’s Next Top Model alum Yaya DaCosta has been cast to play the late singer and actress in the Lifetime biopic.

Post-ANTM, DaCosta has worked as an actress, appearing on All My Children, Ugly Betty, The Butler, In Time, and Tron: Legacy.

Angela Bassett will produce The Whitney Houston Story, which will chronicle the late singer’s tumultuous relationship with R&B bad boy Bobby Brown. The actor selected to play Brown hasn’t yet been announced.

Lifetime will air the film sometime in 2015.

    I like this choice.

Poor Bobbi Kristina….had the misfortune of looking like Bobby Brown in the face.

@Ask_Me: You are wrong for that. LOL!

  • great casting decision. who should play bobby?

I like the choice of Yaya. She did a good job in “The Butler” and other films and music videos.

The Raphel Saadiq video “Good Man” with Chad I. Coleman from “Walking Dead” with Yaya is very sexy. She does a good job in that video. The film “The Kids Are Alright” where she plays Mark Ruffalo’s lover she did a nice job, even though she had a small part. She was believable. She in my opinion is a fairly decent actress.
