Kerry Washington rarely talks about her personal life in public, but the new mom couldn’t help but comment on her baby bliss in a recent chat with fans.
The “Scandal” star, 37, responded to a question from a clever fan, who asked if it would be “bittersweet” for the actress to go back to work on the hit ABC show now that she’s a mom, in a Q&A session for the Los Angeles Times.
“So tricky because you know I don’t talk about this stuff,” Washington said.
“But I will say I feel really, really blessed … I just feel really blessed that I’m kind of living extraordinary dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life.”
The actress gave birth to her first child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, a daughter she named Isabelle Amarachi, on April 21.
“Well … I still won’t talk about my personal life on here,” she tweeted on Mother’s Day. “But … I see your tweets. And I am filled with gratitude! XO #HappyMothersDay.”
The fiercely private “Django Unchained” actress has said her caution with sharing too much personal information comes from learned experience.
“I’ve had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. I was on the cover of a bridal magazine,” she told Glamour magazine last year, referring to her engagement, and split, from ex David Moscow.
“But I couldn’t just turn around and say, ‘I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.’ So I just thought, ‘OK, no more.'”
