With constant relationship-based drama infiltrating the media, it’s easy to get caught up in focusing on all the factors that cause romantic relationships to go awry. But recognizing what a good relationship looks like can make the difference between a person remaining boo’d up or returning to that single life. Some people believe they’ve stubmled everlasting love after developing starry eyes and feeling the flutter of butterflies in the pits of their stomachs. But that happens to me every time I see Idris Elba on TV, so clearly it takes more than those superficial sensations to constitute a solid romantic partnership.   Relationships are like snowflakes—no two are the same. So glad to FINALLY be in a healthy relationships. It didn’t come until I took the time to truly love me first. I can’t believe I thought I could never love again after those fools I dated in the past. The key to finding a healthy relationship is first finding and loving yourself. That truly is the only way.

Forgot to add, I knew that I would marry my husband when I observed all seven of these signs while we were still dating. After kissing a few frogs, I knew when I’d finally found my prince. LOL!

I watched Iyanla’s followup show regarding the man with 34 children and resonated with the comment that we attract what we are. If we are broken, we will attract brokenness. More of us should work on healing from within before we seek out a mate. We would also be better equipped to spot the red flags that let us know the person we are attempting to bond with is not whole.
