If your steady diet of Oreos and red wine every night could use a little revamping, you may want to consider adopting a “flexitarian” approach to it. The flexitarian diet involves maintaining a mostly vegetarian lifestyle with some meat thrown in every now and then. This can be ideal if you’d like to take a plant-based approach to food, but still love to chow down on a burger every now and then.

Gina Keatley, a certified dietitian-nutritionist, explained to Clutch what the word means, who might benefit from this diet and tips for getting started. With a nutrition degree from New York University as well as a restaurant management degree from The Art Institute of NYC, Keatley’s background is geared toward food lovers. With this diet, you’ll be able to have that extra hot dog without feeling guilty in the slightest. And really, who doesn’t want that?
