Screen Shot 2014-11-13 at 10.21.17 AMThe drama unfolding between Why Did I Get Married star Tasha Smith and her husband surpasses anything Tyler Perry could have dreamed up. Just last week, Smith’s estranged hubby, Keith Douglas accused her of frequent alcoholic-induced outbursts and threats against his life, which led to a restraining order asking Smith to remain at least 2 yards away while they still remain under the same roof.

Now Tasha Smith is coming back with her own version of this very twisted tale. She just filed legal documents claiming that she is in fact the one being victimized.

She goes on to accuse Douglas of being dangerously jealous of her interactions with women. Apparently he is convinced that she sleeps around and goes into violent fits of rage that give her reason to believe that he is capable of killing her.

Smith vows to elicit the help of her celebrity friends, including Tisha Campbell Martin and Elizabeth Rohm to help back her up. The documents also refer to Smith’s friendship with actor Michael Jace of The Shield who is reported to have shot and killed his wife. She used the fate of the dead woman as an illustration of what could potentially happen to her if she remains with her husband.

Meanwhile Douglas has moved out of the home they shared which at this point is a step in the right direction.

If no one has said this before, I want to be the first to say that this cat is just setting the stage to try to get money from her.

Ladies…we must protect ourselves. I don’t care if you make $80K/year or $8M/year, get a pre-nup if you plan to marry a man that makes less money than you. Keep your finances separate…there are many men out here looking for a come up.

Isn’t it interesting how a little piece of green paper can divide people so effortlessly…

Mr. Z, your comment brought back the lyrics to that wonderful O’Jay’s old school song, “For the love of money people will lie, Lord, they will cheat For the love of money. People don’t care who they hurt or beat. For the love of money, a woman will sell her precious body, for a small piece of paper it carries a lot of weight. Call it lean, mean, mean green.”

Maybe it’s because I’m young, but I’ve never heard that song before. i’ll have to look it up later.

It’s amazing. In my parent’s day, a man would have been ashamed and unable to show his face if he thought that he could not financially contribute to the household. Something has gone very wrong when grown men have no problem being taken care of.

    • True, but I it goes both ways, as many women are looking for a come up as well.

This relationship NEVER rang true to me. She was always sending out emails promoting his book, etc. In my opinion, a grown man should be able to promote his OWN work. Don’t use your wife’s status to promote your struggling business.

We are in the days of male con artists spotting successful women that they can target. It’s amazing how well the average, everyday person can pretend to be in love with someone. If there was ever a time for prayer regarding romantic relationships, that time is now. Folks are vicious in these streets.

I’m sorry their marriage is falling apart, but she may be better off. She married a man with a 5-pack while she doesn’t have any children. He’s her “manager”, but how many other clients does he have?? Tasha Smith’s name was hardly in the tabloids, but now he trying to say she’s a drunk and crazy? He’s trying to shit on her reputation.

Any society that makes money the most important thing above culture and moral standards is a dying society.
