Misty Copeland, who recently announced that she will be a featured soloist in the American Ballet Theatre’s production of Swan Lake at the Kennedy Center in D.C. next April, has snagged her own show on the Oxygen network.
Interesting choice, considering Oxygen has been home to some of the most scandalous shows on television including Bad Girls Club which most of us against our best wishes faithfully watch.
The Misty Copeland Project, which is still in development, will document the highs and lows of being an ambitious dancer in New York City. The goal of the show is to follow the dancers as they navigate their careers with the advice and support of Copeland who will act as their mentor. The project is being touted as the dance version of The Voice.
Oxygen hasn’t announced when the show is expected to air but it sounds like a perfect offering for the summer.
