Remember that time when Seth Rogen and James Franco kind of mocked Kanye West’s Bound 2 video? Well, the rapper and former protégé of Jay-Z hasn’t forgotten it and it’s not for reasons you assume.
Kanye actually enjoyed the Rogen/Franco parody so much that he invited Rogen to partake of a sneak peek of his upcoming album.
According to Rolling Stone, Rogen got to listen to the entire still to be released album in a limo van. The experience turned out to be a memorable one, as Rogen recalls the meeting, “There’s no lyrics, only beats”. “So he raps the whole album, and after each son, he stops it, like, ‘So what do you think?’ We were there in the van for two hours!”
“Me and my wife had gotten some dessert and were in the lobby getting plates to bring back to our room … And Kanye was like, ‘What are you guys doing? Want to hear my new album?’ So he takes us to this limo van and starts playing his album – except theres no lyrics only beats. So he raps the whole album and after each song, he stops it, like ‘So what do you think?’ We were in the van for 2 hours!”
“Now I realize the next person he sees that he knows is getting pulled into that van,” Rogen says, laughing, “But I learned a lesson from it -which is that Kanye is seeking input at all times. Processwise, it showed an openness and a fearlessness. We started screening our movies more and in rougher versions for our friends because of that.”
So far Rogen is the only one who has been treated to Kanye’s latest confection, which was originally supposed to be released this fall. The album still doesn’t have a release date.
