MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry gave a speech this week at Cornell University and spoke candidly about Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman. This week marked the third anniversary of the killing of Martin by the hands of Zimmerman, so her comments couldn’t have come at a better time.
Harris-Perry stated during the university’s annual MLK Commemorative Lecture that she hoped Martin whooped the shit out of Zimmerman as he struggled for his life.
I hope [Martin] tried to stay alive. I hope he knew that he lived in a state with a “Stand Your Ground’ law. And I hope he whooped the shit out of George Zimmerman. And it’s not disreputable because he encountered a stranger who was prepared to kill him, and you know how I know? Because he killed him.
