Last summer, Vivian Green quietly released her single “Get Right Back To My Baby” but the album was put on hold. Today the singer released the long-awaited video for the song and it’s a breath of fresh air, considering a lot of R&B singers can’t hold a note nowadays.

The Kwamé-produced song includes samples from Maze featuring Frankie Beverly song “Before I Let Go” she sings: “Stuck in transit all day dreaming / Miss you bad, so many reasons / Most of all I really want to lay with you.”

Check out the video below:

Vivian’s album VIVID, is set to be released in August.

i like vg, but this isn’t one of my faves by her. her earlier work in the 00’s was so soulful and from the heart. it was my exercise music for a long time. but i think the issue is that her sound wasn’t “commercial” enough & her look wasn’t “vixen” enough, so she never got the kinda promo that other folks were getting who were coming out around the same time that she did. matter of fact, she came out right around the peak of the whole “neo-soul” movement, but that movement died down around 2005 and started being replaced by soul-pop/rhythm&pop. a lot of good artists got shafted by neo-soul b/c of it (heather headley, jill scott tried to transition but i wouldn’t say she was successful, donnie, india.arie, anthony hamilton, musiq, meshell ndegeocello, rahsaan patterson, kindred, javier, etc). i would love to get the old vivian style of music back in this new album. i’ll check it out in august either way, but i hope it’s not too much pop or trying to be commercially sexy.
