The world may think Bill Cosby is a rapist after he admitted under oath to obtaining drugs to give to women for sex, but his wife Camille still isn’t convinced. According to the New York Post, Mrs. Cosby, who’s also her husband’s business manager, told a group of close friends on Tuesday, “We’ll fix this.”

“I created him, I knew what I was getting and we’ll fix this,” she said, apparently alluding to Cosby’s well-known philandering. Despite his bombshell deposition testimony, Mrs. Cosby refuses to believe her husband is anything other than a cheater.

“They are making him out to be such a bad guy, a monster,” Mrs. Cosby allegedly told friends at the couple’s home. “People are jumping ship.”

People aren’t the only ones. The comedian was recently dropped by his talent agency and TV stations have pulled reruns of The Cosby Show. Still, a source close to the Cosbys says Camille thinks his accusers are lying and this scandal will eventually blow over.

“Camille still doesn’t believe that Bill provided drugs and had sex with women without their consent,” a source who works for the couple told the New York Post. “She’s well aware of his cheating, but she doesn’t believe that her husband is a rapist.”

According to a family friend, Mrs. Cosby “stopped being embarrassed long ago,” by her husband’s infidelity and has looked the other way during their five decades of marriage.

“You have to allow for space to let your partner do what he wants,” Mrs. Cosby allegedly told friends. “I have done that and [Bill] has done that and there’s no jealously, no friction.”

I don’t trust articles that preface a comment with, “A source close to…” It’s hearsay, although Camille might be one of those women who do “stand by her man” and allowing him to be philanders as long as he comes home to her (especially women of their generation). *shrugging shoulders*

I read the story about this issue in the morning. I don’t know if Camille said those words either since it’s based on hearsay.

    • noirluv45

      Exactly, truth.

    • I will bet money she did say it because she knows about it, she know the times and probably was involved in that seen herself at some point, [just being honest]. I was myself to a degree doing that time most all of us was involved in it to some degree some of us just got lucky and step away from it before it was too late. Think about it most of this happen before drug testing and the war on drugs back then if you were caught high on something they didn’t test you because they didn’t have a test for most of the stuff but doing that time a whole lot of bright good well meaning men and women good looking sweet women further were brought to a halt because we were naïve and didn’t know the side effects of what we were taking I consider myself one of the lucky ones who survive it and can tell the story.

That might be the case, TBB.

    • you know my brother in law and his wife were here earlier and she said the same thing and she said now this is a black women she said back then there is no way Bill Cosby would have gotten away with raping white women no matter who he knew or how much money he had and she was right but the sad thing about it the wise wicket knows this but they know young blacks have no concept of the time and will believe what ever the wise wicket in the media tell them and will argue us down and take sides with their enemy and tell us we are wrong when we try to enlighten them. Peace

I lived through the 1980’s as an elementary school kid, but I wasn’t around during the 60’s or the 70’s. That was before my time. Back then, drug abuse was heavily treated as a drug treatment situation. The War on Drugs existed during the early 1900’s, but it was not in the scale like we see today. Nixon and Reagan expanded the War on Drugs into a higher level. It is most probably true that Camille said that the news article claims that she said. She knows about Bill Cosby’s adultery, etc. Many people have done many things back then. One important thing is that a person must have integrity and what he said under oath (which are troubling and his actions have no justification) certainly speaks for itself. His story represents a lesson about what people should not do. We don’t have to be hermit in order for us to experience happiness , but we shouldn’t try to buy drugs for the intention of wanting to sleep with a person either. The vital point is that we have a long way to go in fixing the problems in our community, so we have work to do.

    • true and you are right non of us are angels or were angels I am just honest and will not carry water for any one or any cause but our cause. I consider myself lucky to have lived in both times doing Jim Crow, after the civil rights bill was signed doing the anti war and free love period and afterward to now. “but we shouldn’t try to buy drugs for the intention of wanting to sleep with a person either” the way you stated it you are right but we both male and females do a lot of thing we shouldn’t do to sleep with them we buy cloths, we pay someone rent, we buy grocery, we buy a women children Christmas present, we pay car notes, we buy a hit of coke, we buy some weed, we make loans etc. I know a hard working man who lived with this women and took good care of her and her two daughter and the day after her last daughter graduated from high school unbeknown to him she kicked him out said she didn’t need him anymore, we do a lot of thing just to appease someone for intimacy or as you say just to sleep with them.

Umm, some of these woman admitted to taking drugs with Bill Cosby so there is that. I have said all along that we need to leave this alone and also “the world” does not think of Bill Cosby as a rapist.

I do not profess to know what Bill Cosby is or isn’t. The stories of his cheating ways were around in the 80’s and 90’s. He even eluded to it in a Ebony magazine article when he talked about moving his family out of LA and making their home on the east coast.

The majority of these accusations took place in the 70’s and 80’s, a time when many people openly used drugs as part of the sexual experience. In the late eighties at the age of 19 I began working on the trading floor in Chicago. I personally have watched women forget everything they supposedly stood for when money and power is involved. Those are choices that people make…and then come to regret. My nose is clean, even at the age of 19 and working on the trading floor and being invited to private parties and hearing about golden showers and seeing lines of cocaine. I chose to turn around and walk out the room and leave. I do not view myself as special for in my mind it was common sense,

However, others chose to “have fun” and “be cool” only to have their names put out there for the other traders as good time girls up for anything.

Often, these girls (and women) claimed they were drugged and had no responsibility and a few tried to cry rape, but there were too many witnesses to their eagerness to join the party. I have seen this over and over again. As recently as 5 years ago.

We live in a day and age where people can write and say anything and they are not challenged, by real journalist. For instance 30 women have not accused Bill Cosby of rape, some women said things like, he grabbed and kissed me, others said that they felt uncomfortable around him….That is not rape.

I do not write these words as a defense of Bill Cosby, I write these words as an indictment of mob mentality, lack of critical thinking and lack of journalistic skills.

You see we are told that we are to trust these accusations because we conflate them with standing up for women. But women have as much responsibility as men in the ways they govern themselves.

I challenge the women of Clutch and all of these other magazines to dig deeper and stop riding the click train because Bill Cosby is not our problem and while we are spending so much time going back and forth about something that is unknowable… and yes, it is unknowable, larger and more important issues are not being discussed in a real way. Having an opinion one way or another will never equate to truth.

So, if we profess to be about elevating black women, lets stop chasing what white america wants you to focus on and get back to true multitasking and focus on: police brutality, low self esteem in our kids, the crib to prison pipeline, continuing high unemployment of the black community (those with and without college degrees) continuing degradation of Black women despite our excellence (see Serena Williams NYT article), the continuing desire to dismantle the voting rights that we have to have reaffirmed every few years, our failing schools.

Or how about the Texas school system’s push to rewrite the story of the Civil War with their textbooks. Oh well its just Texas who cares. Well many schools across the country buy their textbooks from this Texas manufacturer so these books have the potential to land in schools in every state in America.

    Just some food for thought.

Discussing a highly controversial topic doesn’t mean other topics aren’t in our scope. We can focus on a myriad of things either at the same time or at different times. Just because we discuss gossip now, doesn’t mean we aren’t discussing police brutality, our communities, crime, etc. later.

    • thank you, thank you, thank you smart and wise counselor with your non bias deep insight for you are a breath of fresh air. Thank you.

So true, back in the day drugs and sex went hand and hand…

  • constance

Some people are doubting her, but I don’t know why. She’s clearly invested in being Mrs. Bill Cosby and refused to divorce him despite many shady allegations. She must have known something. I find it very hard to believe that in 50 years of marriage she had no idea that her husband was having numerous, continuous affairs. She’s probably used to the lifestyle and doesn’t want to let go.

    • true but have you every thought that she participated in that lifestyle herself, back then it was not uncommon.

    • Mitch

So true about the possibility that she may have participated, after all this is hollywood where a lot of people (men and women) slept their way to sucess.
