Saks Fifth Avenue is just as excited about season 2 of ‘Empire’ as the rest of us and they’re celebrating with a new fashion collection inspired by none other than Ms. Cookie Lyon.

The collection will feature a variety of already-existing apparel from notable designers but will be pieced together in ways that only Cookie could inspire. Saks has formed a partnership with the Fox network to make the magic happen and position ‘Empire’ as a “fashion brand,” according to Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products President Jeffrey Godsick.

He tells Women’s Wear Daily:

This rollout at Saks positions ‘Empire’ as a fashion brand,” said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products. “As we introduce the next layers we’re doing, such as collaborations and having interesting designers create clothes for the cast, [we’ll have that credibility.]”

The collaboration between Fox and Saks will reportedly be a “multiplatform partnership” that will incorporate color schemes from the Empire logo into that of the collection. Jimmy Choo and MCM are among the designer brands that will be featured.

The retailer has partnered with Fox to produce a multiplatform partnership that includes “Empire”-themed windows at the New York and Beverly Hills flagships. “Empire’s” second season will premiere on Sept. 23. Gold, being the color of the records everyone wants to produce, the color of Empire Enterprises’ logo and the color of the shows’ promo shot, will fittingly be the operative tone in the windows.

Saks will also work with Fox to bring the fashion sense of a few of Empire’s male characters to life as well. In the meantime, you can be on the look out for Cookie’s style to be front and center via Saks Fifth Avenue window displays in NYC and Beverly Hills beginning early next month.

It’s Timbaland’s wife who does the attire for the show.

wonder why Saks Fifth Avenue is excited about the empire collection … could it be the empire line just might bring in more than a few black customers they have to follow around to make sure they don’t abscond with their merchandise.

Is Saks hoping for the type of success that The Limited has had with the “Scandal” collection? I understand that this is not an original collection made for Saks, but still….I don’t remember Saks aligning with a Black television show in the past.

I’m a little surprised… only because Cookie’s character seems ghetto fabulous to me. Taraji makes it look decent, but I would hope no one actually walks around in that much animal print everyday. I mean Cookie is 17 years behind on fashion trends thanks to her lock up. She’s not someone I would aspire to look like out the gate. IJS

i do agree, Olivia Pope has a better sense of style, im jealous of her wardrobe, but cookie is trash, her wardrobe fits with her character very well, why would someone want to dress like that in real life? i mean come on now..
