Love Osunnuga proved that hard work pays off, especially when it comes to college entrance exams. The 15-year-old student scored perfect scores on the ACT, SAT, PSAT and AP exams.

“I would say I studied a lot, I took a lot of practice tests,” says Love, a senior at St. Joseph High School in Indiana.

After skipping two grades in school, Love will be 16 when she heads to college.

“I was just shocked, I thought you had to be a super genius, like, studied for months and prepared beforehand to get that kind of score,” Love says.

Love’s parents are proud of their daughter and say that her accomplishments aren’t typical. Her parents, one who is an ER doctor, and another a nurse, say that education was the most important thing in the household.

“In Nigeria, we already know that there’s nothing that can make your life worthwhile or better, except if you have a good education,” said her father Sunday. “Being in the best country in the world, having been given all the opportunities, we expect a lot from our kids.”

So what is their secret to raising Love?

“We lead by example,” they say.

Love says her top college choices are Notre Dame and University of Chicago and she wants to study dermatology.

Once again an example of an immigrant family stressing education as the key to success in America. It happens in African-American families as well but it seems the examples are few and far between. Some of us tend to point our children in the direction of sports or entertainment or give them no direction at all.

This is an excellent, inspiring story. It shows the great intellectual strength of a black person and it shows how a strong black family can give great love including real encouragement to a student in order for the student to achieve great accomplishments. For anyone to achieve a perfect score on a SAT exam alone is not easy, but to have perfect scores on the ACT, SAT, PSAT, and AP exams is incredible. The story of Love Osunnuga documents that studying, never giving up, and education are always important in life. Love Osunnuga is a well-rounded person who will go into college, so she can achieve her own dreams and aspirations. She wants to help fellow human beings and she’s a great person. The family and Sister Love Osunnuga are blessed people. STEM fields are blatantly important to promote too. Love, devotion, and sacrifice are important principles that completely exemplify Love Osunnuga.

    Congratulations to Sister Love Osunnuga.
