After months of anticipation, the Daily Show with new host Trevor Noah premieres tonight on Comedy Central. Though most will undoubtedly compare Noah’s performance to that of longtime Daily Show host Jon Stewart, the South African comedian said his show will do things differently.
“The show is used to presenting video materials back to a video audience,” Noah told Vox. “What we’re working on is different ways to get that information, break it up, and then turn it into a show that we can talk about.”
While Stewart critiqued the media, Noah’s Daily Show will tackle other issues, namely race, in different ways.
“Our go-to source is no longer dictated by a small group of cable news outlets,” Noah said. “Sometimes, a story is made and breaks on Twitter. We have to find a way to react to that.”

Tonight, all eyes will be on Noah as he takes the Daily Show stage for the first time as host and welcomes Kevin Hart. It remains to be seen if he’ll be able to replicate the success Stewart enjoyed for the last decade.
