Hillary Clinton headed to Clark Atlanta University today to unveil her criminal justice reform plan and court Black voters. While she talked of ending private prisons and mass incarceration, #BlackLivesMatter protestors used Clinton’s speech to express their concerns as well.

Protestors sang Janelle Monae’s “Hell You Talmbout” while Clinton addressed the crowd, which also included Congressman John Lewis and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.

Clinton continued to address the audience, while some attendees shouted at protesters to “Let her talk.”

The demonstrators were eventually escorted out by university police, Mayor Reed, and other leaders.

The protest action was planned by members of #AUCShutItDown, a coalition of students from the Atlanta University Center, which includes Spelman, Morehouse, and Clark Atlanta. The group issued a statement calling out university administrators for “multiple offenses committed against Black and Brown lives.”

After the disruption, Clinton continued speaking, telling the crowd, “I’m not running for my husband’s third term or Obama’s third term. I’m running for my first term!”

I don’t care about these candidates or the two party system. it’s one big illusion. What are they doing for BLACK people? Things have to change, this abuse cannot continue.
