Last year the Oscars were so white they appeared to bring out every Black actor in Hollywood to present an award or just say a few words about the industry. Well, this year the folks over at the Academy have tapped the Blackest, and arguably the best, comic in America to host the show, Chris Rock.
Rock will bring his spot-on commentary about race and politics to the 88th Academy Awards, and we absolutely cannot wait.
This will be Rock’s second time hosting the show, and he’s as excited as the rest of us.
“I’m so glad to be hosting the Oscars,” Rock said. “It’s great to be back.”

The last time Rock played Hollywood’s biggest stage was 2005, and his opening monologue was absolutely hilarious. As usual, Rock blended witty observations on life and the film business with references to hip hop and Black culture, and we hope he does it again in 2016.
Take a look.
