Just 6 months after Freddie Gray’s death, his mother, Gloria Darden, was hospitalized on Wednesday after a suicide attempt. Darden sustained superficial wounds and was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation after the suicide attempt, according to CBS affiliate WJZ.
Gray, 25, was arrested April 12, and was injured while forced to ride without a seatbelt in a police van. He died a week later, triggering unrest in the city. Charges were brought against the six officers involved in Gray’s death by Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby.
Last month the city awarded Gray’s family with a $6.4 million settlement over his death.
