At least 7 to 10 people have been confirmed dead and at least 20 others injured after Thursday afternoon’s shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon.

While the story is still developing, Ellen Rosenbloom, Oregon’s Attorney General, told Brian Williams on MSNBC the suspect has been “neutralized” and is deceased. Both local and federal law enforcement officers are involved in the investigation.

UCC students and faculty have been bused to the Roseburg fairgrounds as emergency teams are still tending to the victims.

Several UCC students have taken to social media to share their accounts of the tragic events.

The UCC shooting is the 45th mass school shooting in 2015, and the 142 mass shooting since the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012.

As a final count of victims is revealed, this shooting will no doubt prompt yet another discussion on gun control in the U.S.

The Dc Sniper was black so was the on air TV shooter so at first it seemed premature to assume this shooter wasn’t black
But given the fact that its been hours since the shooting and there are no pics or description of the shooter in the media ,,,,,,,,,well

    • CoolChic

Given the non-description of the shooter in the media..i do think it’s safe to say the shooter is at least non-black.

Shooter has been identified he looks mixed/biracial like I said below it could be a bit premature to assume his race but this is the longest they have taken to release suspect info (so maybe they weren’t sure either)
Either way my heart goes out to the victims and their families

NB:The News spin on this will be interesting to note

    • Rizzo

he does look mixed/biracial. news media reporting his age to be 26. this is so very sad.

    • CoolChic

i hope the media doesn’t one drop him.

    • Rizzo

      this is catastrophic.

Sighs…I really don’t want to become desensitize to this but sadly I am starting to feel this way. How many words can be spoken or tears can be shed with the foolishness and senseless and mass shootings and murders. So sad that about the victims, may they rest in peace and condolences to their families. I don’t want to read the think pieces or the politicians speeches and politics…it is TIME to change policies/laws….point blank. This is ridiculous if we as a country keep going at this rate nobody will be leaving their house. But it seems like this suspect have a lot of issues that motivated his killing spree despite his racial mix.

  • Mary Burrell

He looks bi-racial whatever he was he and his mother appeared to be mentally unstable. This is a tragedy and i feel for those victims families who died and the injured. The media says he was always “angry” i really wish people would seek professional help and get medications.
