During last night’s airing of the Soul Train Awards, Erykah Badu introduced R. Kelly and it left me flabbergasted.

“I know they said no red cups y’all, but this man has done more for the blacks than anyone.”

“He taught how, in the name of love, to step together. He taught us to stay out that trapped closet. And he believes he can fly,” she continued.

Kelly then serenaded the crowd with “Step in the Name of Love”, “Backyard Party,” “Your Body’s Callin’,” “When a Woman’s Fed Up” and “Ignition (Remix).”

After Kelly’s performance the crowd gave him a standing ovation.

It seems as though once again, everyone has forgotten about Kelly’s fondness of young girls and the child sex abuse allegations, as well as the video of him urinating on a young girl.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why people still listen to his music, allow him to perform and act like none of this stuff has ever happened.

Needless to say, people are still blaming the girls Kelly abused for being  ‘too fast’…but they’re not blaming him for being a pedophile.

We need to stop giving this man passes. And point out exactly what he is: a disgusting and vile human being.

And next time think before calling someone a “pedophile” before fixing your fingers to type that sh*t. It’s off-putting. There’s a lot of anger in this article and I can only imagine how you are in real life. You must be going through a lot to have so much venom for someone you don’t even know. Just a bitter and angry woman you are!

There’s so much going on in this black community of yours to be WORRIED about instead of R. Kelly performing at an award show. He is rich and already succeeded a lot in his life. That’s pretty much set in stone so to beat your head in over and over because he’s at an award show is pointless. The show was recorded two weeks in advance so you’re bitching about something that already happened… like WTF. It’s also pointless to beat your head in over and over because he has a fan base. There’s this thing called FREE WILL. We are able to freely choose to do what we want. So if you don’t want to listen to R. Kelly, you have the WILL to turn off your TV. You have the FREE WILL to not buy his music. It’s that SIMPLE but to argue why his fans won’t do the same is pointless and tired at this point. You can’t convince another person to do what you want them to do. Life would be so much simpler for you (the writer of this) if you understood this. Someone once told me that people are more REACTIVE instead of PROACTIVE and I def. see it now.

Just in case anyone responds to me with banter – I won’t be responding because I actually don’t live my life in a space where I LOOK for negative things to talk about. Positive energy here!

He’s an ephebophile, not a pedophile. They’re both gross, but let’s not go inflating them.
