That’s a question T D Jakes has the saints asking after he uploaded a pic on Instagram wearing a button down shirt, sweater, blazer, and jeans slit at the knee cap — the latter of which became a point of contention for some.
Almost as soon as the bishop uploaded the pic above, his comments section became filled with criticism over his attire with one person stating: “The jeans are not age appropriate. End of story. Has nothing to do with him being a minister. If my dad wore these jeans, I would be mortified. There are plenty of styles out there that would be more flattering on the Bishop.” Meanwhile another follower asked, “Why can’t we respect the holy day…All he asked for is one day, but most will still wear clothes that they wear to parties. If you can’t respect the temple that is suppose[sic’ to be kept holy. What do you respect?”
The bible was bishop Jakes’ official answer. After catching wind of the negativity on his pic, the preacher responded by stating simply “I certainly want to comply with the word. I just missed the one about jeans in the pulpit.”
Of course, the subject of jeans in the pulpit is more a question of tradition rather than scripture, but that doesn’t mean it’s not one that doesn’t easily divide believers. Where do you stand? Do you think jeans are okay in the pulpit?
