Cedric Ford has been named as the gunman that killed 3 coworkers and wounded 15 during a shooting spree in Hesston, Kansas.
While many of his victims were coworkers, overall the attacker appears to have opened fire at random, said Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton of the mass killing that struck fear in Hesston and the town’s major employer, a lawnmower manufacturing company.
“This is a horrible situation my friends, just terrible,” Walton said at a news conference, adding at least five of the 14 wounded were in critical condition.
“I saw the shooter get out of his truck, shoot someone down and go into the building,” Excel employee Matt Gerald, told the Hesston Record. “I was flabbergasted. I was at a loss for words.”
Sheriff Walton said authorities were still investigating the incident.
“This is just a horrible incident that’s happened here,” the sheriff said, CNN reports. “It’s going to be a lot of sad people before this is all over.”
Ford was killed by Hesston police miles away from the location.
