Look what Beyoncé done went and started. Well actually, she didn’t start anything but it looks like the boys in blue aren’t here for her video or upcoming concert.
The Miami Fraternal Order of Police said that a nationwide boycott should happen and that cops should not work as security during her upcoming tour. Bey performs in Miami on April 27 at Marlins Park.
In a statement, Javier Ortiz, president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police, said Bey’s performance was “to divide Americans by promoting the Black Panthers and her anti-police message.”
The FOP doesn’t exactly speak for the police department. In a statement the City of Miami Police Department told the Huffington Post that the union spoke only for itself and that “there’s no indication that anything that is said there will translate into police officers not working the job.”
