In 2012, Sarah Reed was arrested and assaulted by Police officer James Kiddie after allegedly shoplifting. The officer in question wasn’t fired from the British police until late 2014.
On Jan. 11, Reed who was still in jail, was found dead in her cell. Reed’s family said they were told she “’strangled’ herself whilst lying on her bed”, which they do not believe.
A spokesperson for the Prison Service told the Independent: “HMP Holloway prisoner Sarah Reed was found unresponsive in her cell at 8am on January 11.
“Prison staff attempted CPR, but she was pronounced dead shortly after.
“As with all deaths in custody, the independent Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation.”
