‘She’s too gorgeous for them to be distorting her like this’ — Fan/IG Follower
Serena Williams was recently named one of People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful” women in the world but it seems as though the publication felt she would be more beautiful with a little (or rather, a lot) of Photoshopping. The 34-year-old tennis star, who is currently ranked #1 in her field, took to Instagram to share a sexy black and white photo from the May 2nd issue that showed her posing in a figure hugging swimsuit.
Addressing her 3 million followers she added the caption, “@peoplemag most beautiful 2016″ alongside a fist pump emoji. But the moment the photograph was posted, fans began suggesting that the image had been doctored – racking up over 600 comments within the first hour.
‘I love her but the bar behind her waist is so warped. Disappointing,” one user pointed out. ‘Is this photoshopped???’ another user asked. ‘You look beautiful the way you. yes this is a great picture but I don’t feel this is the best representation of your actually body type. and trust I love your body the way God intended it to be,” another user added.
Not everyone was quick to accuse though. “It might not be photoshop you guys :) some people’s bodies are naturally that curvy!’ one user wrote. “No Photoshop absolutely beautiful,” another user commented.
This isn’t the first time the tennis champ has found herself in the midst of a retouching controversy. When she graced the cover of Sports Illustrated in December 2015, critics flocked to social media to comment on the size of her thighs while accusing editors of photoshopping her legs to look smaller.
