We’ve been down with Issa Rae for years.
CLUTCH was one of the first publications to share the funnywoman’s hilarious web series, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, way back in 2011, and since then, we’ve had Rae’s back every step of the way.
To say we’re super proud of our homegirl would be an understatement–we’re huge fans–and we’ve been patiently waiting for her debut on our TV screens.
Now…it seems like the wait is almost over.
Back in October, HBO greenlit Rae’s upcoming show, Insecure, and Wednesday the network announced it would be hitting TV screens this fall!

Loosely based on Rae’s life, Insecure is about the “friendship of two modern-day Black women, Issa (Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji), and all of their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations.”
The show also stars Jay Ellis as Lawrence, Issa’s cute, but unemployed boyfriend, and Lisa Joyce as Issa’s coworker at an educational non-profit firm.
True to her mission to amplify diverse voices in Hollywood, Insecure also features an incredibly inclusive slate of writers.
We can’t wait to see what they’ve cooked up!
