Well that makes it sooo much better.
The Florida police officer who shot and wounded an autistic man’s therapist earlier this week was said he was aiming at the patient, but accidentally shot the wrong man, a police union chief said Thursday.
The officer also thought the toy truck the autistic man was playing with was a gun, after he responded to a call about a possible suicidal man.
“It appeared to the officers that the white male was trying to do harm to Mr. Kinsey,” Police chief Rivera said at a news conference. “In fearing for Mr. Kinsey’s life, the officer discharged his firearm trying to save Mr. Kinsey’s life and he missed.”
Video was released of the incident and you can see that Kinsey was lying down with his arms up. The police officer fired 3 times shooting Kinsey in the leg.
“As long as I got my hands up, they’re not going to shoot me — this is what I’m thinking,” Kinsey told WSVN-Channel 7 from a bed at Jackson Memorial Hospital. “They’re not going to shoot me. Wow, was I wrong.”
Yes, very wrong.
