Over the weekend, 35 year old R&B singer and former Sister Sister star posted photos of his baptism as a Jehovah’s Witness on his Instagram.
“8/13/16 The best day of my life!!! I got baptized today. I’ve never been this happy #JW Jehovah my God, thank you for allowing me the privilege to be one of your Witnesses now,” he wrote.
My baptism: I can not even put into words the feeling/emotions and overwhelming joy running through my mind. To know that Jehovah God, or Heavenly Father, the CREATOR of any and everything chose me to be his loyal servant! I am humbled beyond words, and I am so grateful to all who embarked on this journey with me! This is only the first step and I look forward to where life is gonna take me now that I have Jehovah behind the wheel 🙏🏾😊 #JW
Jehovah’s Witnesses are a Christian denomination with more than 8.2 million members worldwide. The group is known for distinct practices like evangelizing door-to-door at people’s homes, rejecting blood transfusions and not observing birthdays or other holidays considered to be pagan.
Houston is not the only black celebrity to join the religion. The late great music legend Prince became a Jehovah’s Witness in 2001. Tennis star Serena Williams grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness, as did the Notorious B.I.G and Michael Jackson.
