Following a worldwide casting search, Director Ava DuVernay has cast 13-year-old rising Actress Storm Reid, as the lead in the forthcoming Disney film, A Wrinkle In Time.
Reid made her big screen debut in the Oscar-winning Twelve Years a Slave. Since then, she’s booked several television gigs and nabbed a leading role in American Girl: Lea to the Rescue. She followed that up with a role-playing Jacob Latimore’s little sister in the sci-fi drama Sleight, which generated strong buzz at Sundance.
Storm recently wrapped comedic drama, A Happening of Monumental Proportions, co-starring Katie Holmes and Common, set for a 2017 release.
A Wrinkle In Time, adapted from the Newbery Medal-winning book, centers on Meg Murry, a young girl traumatized by the disappearance of her scientist father years before. She finds herself on an interplanetary journey with a schoolmate and her younger brother to find her father. They are aided by a trio of supernatural beings, Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling) and Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey). Frozen writer and co-director Jennifer Lee helmed the script.
